The CBP contributes the development of tools and resources for citizen journalism to thrive. Its overall objective is to improve the quality of grassroots reporting in order for the media to have a greater impact on our societies.
The ICJ is currently developing the basic materials and curriculum for training citizen journalists around the world. These resources entail open source training materials categorized in different fields or themes. These include:
• Media Theory: story creation, images, how ideas propagate, how information changes society, language and visuals.
• Journalism Methodology Elements of research, storytelling, fact and opinion, using history, references.
• Media Application: The use of media equipment (web, radio, photography and video).
• Security guidelines for working on the field
• Copyright and other legal related matters to take into consideration as a citizen journalist.
The ultimate goal: get published, get your story broadcast, reach maximum audience and inform the public.
